WILD GARDEN KALE MIX
Brassica napus
Open Source Seed Initiative Variety
An Open Source Seed Initiative (OSSI) pledged variety from Frank Morton and Wild Garden Organic Seeds in Oregon. Corporations are “owning” and patenting plant traits/genetics and OSSI varieties will not be “owned”. I say “Hell No Joe” to that “owning” crap. Anyways, this kale mix is an extremely broad genetic mix of awesome tastiness/leaf patterns for gardeners who enjoy saving seed. To save your own seed and make bio-regionally adapted seeds, sow in early Summer, over winter in your garden, then watch the flowers turn to seed by late Summer. Will not cross with other kale / Brassica species. ENJOY!!!!!
(1) Start transplants 4 weeks before setting out after last spring frost. (2) Direct sow 7 seeds per foot and thin (and eat) to best plant per foot of row. Loves organic compost/fertilizer, regular irrigation, barefoot kiddos, and happy dancing little earthworms :)
