Beet, Touchstone Gold
Beet, Touchstone Gold
Beta vulgaris
50-65 days
This organic seed grows a beautiful golden beet with super tasty greens that make a great addition to any salad. We also love to cut and dry the beets and their green for winter soups. They also make a great sauerkraut, borscht, or beet wine... yes a wine made from beets folks is super yummy. Sow seeds in early-mid summer, store in cellar or cold dark place until a month before last spring frost. Set out 1-2 feet apart in rows and 2-3 feet between row to experiment with seed saving.
Beets like regular soil with chemical free compost. Sow from early spring to mid summer. Sow 1/2" deep, mat take 10 days to sprout, thin to 4" apart, and keep rows 16" apart. Enjoys regular waterings and barefoot kids with dirty fingernails. Grow a Garden!
Packet sows at least a 20 foot row.
