STINGING NETTLE

Urtica dioica

NATIVE PERENNIAL

INFO:   Ok folks, please listen to my ramble.  This plant CAN hurt with its “stinging”, but is also the one plant in the world that probably has the highest known micro-nutrient and mineral content for any known plant.  I make awesome cordage from the stalks. It has incredible powers in the compost pile, it's awesome for dried/fresh early greens, it makes a tasty tea by the wood stove, and is simply an amazing native medicinal plant.

HOW TO:   Sow seeds ASAP in a permanent bed. It enjoys wet feet and friendship with other medicinal allies. Seeds need stratification (cold/wet cycle) of at least 50 days, this mimics the natural process from Fall to Spring.  Will spread via rhizomes (roots) so it needs a permanent spot.

SOWS AT LEAST A 10 SQUARE FOOT BED
